How to get DOT and use vDOT

vDOT characteristics

• vDOT unstaking period: 0~28 days (flexible)

• OpenGov: Yes

• Reward fee: 1% (apply to rewards only)

• Unstake fee: 0.1% (apply to unstake amount)

Get DOT on Bifrost

Before minting and using vDOT you first need to hold DOT in the Bifrost network. Prepare DOT on your wallet address on the relay chain: - Purchase DOT on CEX or DEX - Buy DOT with credit card with fiat on-ramp solutions (i.e Banxa) - Withdraw from other ecosystem parachains (HydraDX, Moonbeam, Astar, Interlay...)

1. Login to bifrost.app and confirm the network in the upper right corner is Polkadot

3. Click "Cross chain" in the main navigation menu on the left to enter the cross chain function

4. Click on the "From" option and select Polkadot

5. Enter the amount of DOT that needs to be crossed in into Bifrost, and click "Cross in" to complete the confirmation and sign the transaction. Finally wait for the transaction to be completed (6 to 12s). You successfully deposited DOT on Bifrost !

You can also cross-chain DOT directly in the vDOT staking page, by clicking on the "Cross in" option, see next paragraph

Stake DOT

1. Click on vStaking in the main navigation menu, then click vDOT to enter the vDOT page

2. Enter the amount of DOT to be minted into vDOT in the right panel (0.5 DOT is the minimum)

3. Click on "Stake" button, confirm and sign the transaction. Once vDOT are minted they are directly deposited in your Bifrost wallet.

Unstake DOT

There are 2 options to unstake DOT from vDOT.

• Full unstaking request (you retain full vDOT value)

• Lightning mode (you swap at market price, most of the time you won't get full value)

1. On the vDOT page, click the toggle button in the middle of the right panel so that vDOT is at the top

2. Enter the amount of vDOT that needs to be redeemed

3. Click on "Unstake" button, confirm and sign the transaction

4. Go to "Unstake" tab in the top navigation of the vDOT page to view the latest progress of your request

Unstake DOT (lightning mode)

1. On the vDOT page, click the toggle button in the middle of the right panel so that vDOT is at the top

2. Turn on the lightning mode option in the DOT part

Lightning mode = swap

3. Enter the amount of vDOT that needs to be redeemed into DOT

4. Click on "Swap" button, confirm and sign the transaction

5. You will get DOT immediately back in your wallet once the swap is executed

vKSM characteristics

• OpenGov: Yes

• Reward fee: 10% (apply to rewards only)

• Unstake fee: 0.1% (apply to unstake amount)

Get KSM on Bifrost

Before minting and using vKSM you first need to hold KSM in the Bifrost network. Prepare KSM on your wallet address on the relay chain: - Purchase KSM on CEX or DEX - Buy KSM with credit card with fiat on-ramp solutions (i.e Banxa) - Withdraw from other ecosystem parachains (Moonriver, MangataX...)

1. Login to bifrost.app and confirm the network in the upper right corner is Kusama

2. Click "Cross chain" in the main navigation menu on the left to enter the cross chain function

3. Click on the "From" option and select Kusama

4. Enter the amount of KSM that needs to be crossed into Bifrost, and click cross in to complete the confirmation and sign the transaction. Finally wait for the transaction to be completed (6 to 12s). You successfully deposited KSM on Bifrost !

You can also cross-chain KSM directly in the vKSM staking page, by clicking on the "Cross in" option, see next paragraph

Stake KSM

1. Click on vStaking in the main navigation menu, then click vKSM to enter the vKSM page

2. Enter the amount of KSM/vKSM to be minted in the right panel (0.25 KSM is the minimum)

3. Click on "Stake" button, confirm and sign the transaction. Once vKSM are minted they are directly deposited in your Bifrost wallet.

There are 2 options to unstake KSM from vKSM.
