How to get MANTA and use vMANTA

Get MANTA on Bifrost

A. Bridging from Manta Pacific network (Eth L2) to Manta Atlantic (substrate parachain)

Before minting and using vMANTA you first need to hold MANTA in the Bifrost network. Commonly used steps to obtain MANTA on the Bifrost network:

Prepare MANTA on your EVM wallet address: - Purchase MANTA on CEX or DEX - Buy MANTA with credit card with fiat on-ramp solutions (i.e Banxa)

Use the oficial Manta bridge: https://app.manta.network/manta/bridge

You need an EVM wallet (Metamask, Talisman, Rabby...) and a substrate wallet (Subwallet, Talisman, Enkrypt...)

  1. Connect your wallets

  1. Once connected, choose to send from Pacific to Atlantic, input or select your Manta Atlantic address (substrate), input the amount of MANTA you want to bridge and click on "Approve MANTA"

  1. Once confirmed, click on "Transfer" to start the bridge operation and follow the 3 steps

  1. Once you fulfilled the 3 steps, congrats, your MANTA are on Manta Atlantic network !

B. Bridging from Manta Atlantic (parachain) to Bifrost (parachain)

  1. Login to bifrost.app and confirm the network in the upper right corner is Polkadot

  1. Click "Cross chain" in the main navigation menu on the left to enter the cross chain function

  1. Click on the "From" option and select Manta.

  1. Enter the amount of MANTA that needs to be crossed in into Bifrost, and click "Cross in" to complete the confirmation and sign the transaction. Finally wait for the transaction to be completed (6 to 12s). You successfully deposited MANTA on Bifrost !

You can also cross-chain DOT directly in the vDOT staking page, by clicking on the "Cross in" option, see next paragraph

Stake MANTA

  1. Click on vStaking in the main navigation menu, then click vMANTA to enter the vMANTA page

  1. Enter the amount of MANTA to be minted into vMANTA in the right panel (1 MANTA is the minimum)

  1. Click on "Stake" button, confirm and sign the transaction. Once vMANTA are minted they are directly deposited in your Bifrost wallet.

Unstake MANTA

There are 2 options to unstake MANTA from vMANTA.

  • Full unstaking request (you retain full vMANTA value)

  • Lightning mode (you swap at market price, most of the time you won't get full value)

  1. On the vMANTA page, click the toggle button in the middle of the right panel so that vMANTA is at the top

  1. Enter the amount of vMANTA that needs to be redeemed

  2. Click on "Unstake" button, confirm and sign the transaction

  3. On the vMANTA page to view the latest progress of your request

Unstake MANTA (lightning mode)

  1. On the vMANTA page, click the toggle button in the middle of the right panel so that vMANTA is at the top

  1. Turn on the lightning mode option in the MANTA part

  1. Enter the amount of vMANTA that needs to be redeemed into MANTA

  2. Click on "Swap" button, confirm and sign the transaction

  3. You will get MANTA immediately back in your wallet once the swap is executed
